And Hiro didn’t seem like the kinda kid to just forget such a big promise to a friend and the look in his eyes is a pretty big thing in anime with ppl who’ve been broken or headfucked
Nana seemed off in general compared to how she is usually portrayed. Generally, she can be bossy (so to speak) but she seemed more like a strict and worried caretaker vs. at the garden where she seemed just as cold as Hachi. Especially that scene where 002 was fighting the guards.
Hiro definitely had his memory wiped because he ran into 002.

No, you don’t see, the people making Darlifra are basically all ex-gainax employees (it’s why it’s a cross-production between A1 and Trigger). Gainax made Evangelion.
