The retcons have only been small things but the issue overall is that they’re is very little connective tissue in general. There is a lot of stuff but not a lot of story.
And the retcons will probably only get worse if they ever actually do make a story.

I do agree with the sentiment of “just make a new hero instead of gender/race swapping an existing one” because it’s fun to see more new ideas.
