My last Darlifra theory:
Naomi was paired with Hiro because she’s a lesbian. This was intentionally done by Dr. Franxx because he fully intended to play cupid for Zero Two and Hiro and wanted to ensure that he wouldn’t have a partner when Zero Two showed up.
I feel like it explains how Hiro apparently wasn’t tested against any of the other girls in the squad for compatibility (or else the ichigo/hiro vs. miku/zorome ep wouldn’t have happened).
And it’s just shitty enough that it’s totally something Dr.Franxx would do for his grand plan. He basically intended to shove Naomi in the freezer since the start.
