I always find it funny when a male anime character is called yuri. Mostly because they always get Yaoi fan stuff. I also instantly think of Yuri on ice as Yaoi on ice.
Man, I feel you. I’m so used to to yuri refering to girl x girl I always do a double take when something has the word yuri in it and isn’t actual yuri
Yuri on Ice’s title is especially hilarious for that reason you mentioned
