In regards to the main character, I understand where you're coming from. But I believe their aim was to literally make a young, overly excessive douche. Not necessarily in those words, but they literally wanted a cocky young guy. I didn't like him too much, but it was the boss af dragon I liked
Well, you can make a cocky young protagonist and not have him be obnoxious (see: Dante from the Original Devil May Cry)
