What is to your preference?
You might like the Desden Files. It’s kinda Harry Potter-esque in setting that magic exists around us we’re just too stupid to see it, but the entire tone is darker. It’s about a wizard who works as a private detective in Chicago and things go to shit quite often. The author is Jim Butcher.

I’ve heard about that before and I’ve meant to check it out because it sounds interesting.

  1. sarssol said: Just so you know the first two books in the Dresden series are both pretty bad so it’s not a bad idea to just skip them and get a synopsis later.
  2. rin-din said: Dresden Files is like a good crime story meets magic and things that go bump in the night. A book that is also like that but deals with the faerie side of things is the October Daye series by Seanan Mcguire. I would recommend both.
