They aren’t intentionally stylized to look dated (and honestly, it doesn’t look like old CGI it looks like lazy CGI). Everything looks like it’s just using default shaders that come standard with whatever 3d program they’re using. Honestly, I’ve seen car commercials with better CGI.

But, the technical graphics aside; The style is all wrong for reboot. They went with a very cartoon-y style that’s screaming “WE’RE SCI-FI. WE’RE SCI-FI” reboot’s OG style didn’t do that. It didn’t try to force how SCI-FI it was down your throat it was it’s own thing.

And that’s just my gripes stylistically. Story wise; Even if it wasn’t reboot how goddamned cheap does it look. The villian is a dude in black hoodie/sweater sitting in a fucking warehouse with a bunch of PC’s around him because y’know that’s what real l337 h@ck3rs do. The kid’s go to ALAN TURNING highschool which made me cringe so much.

As well as how they manage to take a digital character out of a digital world into the real one…like andraia leaving her game and entering the non-game world is completely understandable in the original because she’s just data like the rest of them. Going from digital to real is a bit more a stretch.

Also, where is Bob? Dot? Enzo? Where are the Games?
