Yea I suppose though I don’t think any of the three would have been wanting to go to war. All three city states would hopefully know better than that. They could have shown a bit more concern I feel. Politics suck man.
If they all were under one goverment, or all three citystates had the same type of goverment then it’d be a lot better but Gridiania is a Pseudo-Monarchy (I think that’s how you would describe it), Limsa is a dictatorship, and Ul’dah is ruled by a council of the elite under a puppet Monarch.
Actions done by Kan-E, or Merlwyb (especially Merlwyb because she answers to no one but herself) is an action (even just healing raubahn) that represents the whole of Gridania/Limsa. And, even if they didn’t immediately hold hard feelings against them for assisting the alleged assassin of their monarch, and their co-conspirator/person who actually just assassinated one of their government heads, it could still lead to bad feelings that could fester and grow. Especially if there are any garlean sleeper agents whispering sweet nothing’s in their ears.
Not to mention, during Ilberd and Raubahn’s fight if Merlwyb stepped in to help fight him she could have ended up dead. Which would have destabilized Limsa as there would be a power vacuum that all those pirate leaders and wannabe Mistbeards would be more then happy to try and fill.
The emotional response in that situation was just really the wrong one. As proven by the fact Raubahn’s emotional response made that whole situation worse. If he hadn’t flipped the fuck out, and insisted on seeing Nanamo then none of the events post-assassinated would have happened.
