Y’know I kinda feel like SE might be moving…

They might just be pushing more friendly Garlean NPCs. Knowing the dev team, they won’t put that much effort in making a Garlean playable race. If it took them so long to make something like Eureka Anemos, think of how long it would take them to make your idea happen.

Ehh. That’s not a good comparison when Eureka is a lot more complex then what I was suggesting. They could, also, just have them be playable from the get-go and justify the characters backstory and magicness is side-stuff. I wouldn’t put it past them to be that patently lazy either.

while the idea is interesting they’ve basically said that Garleans by nature have no aether, which afaik is a requirement for the Echo. You could bullshit it and say “well the WoL is SUPER blessed” but that kinda puts everyone down lower, which doesn’t really work considering Minfilia was so attuned to the Echo that she became Hydaelyn’s mouthpiece and Louisoix literally summoned a pantheon

That would just be the requirement for the Echo. There is also the Blessing of Light which could bypass that and give magic to a playable Garlean.

I don’t see how it’d make them any more “super blessed” then we already are. Hydaelyn severely weakened herself in order to protect us from Ultima weapon. Like, I don’t think it’s beyond Hydaelyn of all people to give garlean’s the ability to use magic.

Also, the pseudo-echo that Zenos uses seems to give him magical powers. So, really it’s more figuring out a bypass the garleans resistance to the Echo which the BoL totally could do.
