I feel like if they were going to do that, then they WOULDN’T have put in Geomancer as a Conjurer reskin in the AST storyline. As-is, it feels like them saying “This is as close as we’re going to get to putting it in the game.”
Honestly, I don’t think that’s a point against it. SE reuses animations all the time and seeing as it was gonna be 2+ years out before we see Geomancer it’s understandable they’d reuse the perfectly good (and technically defunct) CNJ animations they had. Especially when you consider they made a unique weapon with a distinct design for them too.
Not to mention; I’ve suspected for a long time that SE was gonna re-use wands for a new class since they’ve stopped using them for CNJ/WHM/THM/BLM past 50-something.
Other points for it: mentioning Geomancer at all in the questline. There really was no reason SE had to establish specifically geomancy was the cause for the seals. They could have been like “it’s japanese voodoo magic I ain’t gotta explain shit”.
And so far the trend with SE mentioning jobs by name in-game has lead to them being added in. Only with RDM/SAM but still.
oh and last minute thought that the new enemy geomancers in the swallow’s compass also use wand weapons. Not really proof but still interesting SE is establishing that wands are a thing used by geomancers in more then one place.
So, something I just remembered regarding thing. Alisaie during the WoD fight who was really our first RDM tease uses GLD/PLD animations. So, them re-using animations for new jobs isn’t odd especially when by that point in HW they’d probably have at least basic combat animations for RDM I’d think or could have made them.
