AnonymousBalmung is XIV’s unofficial RP server. The hate comes from a variety of places some more valid then others but to list it (in not particular order):
1) Some people have a general disdain for RPers. Sometimes this is because of tryhards getting mad at people not playing the game as “seriously” and some valid criticisms (like RPers sometimes not knowing when to drop character and being generally annoying fucks, some RPers being less then good players).
2) ERP. Particularly the fact it’s not unheard of to come across people who are ERPing in public, or harassing people to ERP with them.
3) Tumblr. A lot, if not most, Balmungians are also Tumblr users. I think that speaks for itself.
4) Drama. There is a lot of drama, which combines with #3, to make it an intolerable mess. There are a lot of unsavory characters on balmung too.

Large server, generally cheaper prices. Makes it easier for others to buy stuff and some feel that it devalues things if you’re only spending 5m on a rare item instead of 30m.
