Y’all both wrong. The whole “monmusu is dumb male wankbait” and “their just buff dudes with funny faces” arguments are dumb as they both lack any nuance.
Monsterness is a scale. Some are more human/monstrous then others. You shouldn’t rag on people who like Charlie from The Shape of Water as being as pathetic as people who wanna fuck Pennywise because he (Charlie) doesn’t even pass as human regardless of his bipedal body while pennywise is a fucking c-l-o-w-n the most human thing you can be without being a human.
On the other hand, most the monmusu girls literally could be just called “conventionally attractive women with their asses replaced with animal asses” and some don’t even go that far (Tio).
Basically, stop being elitist assholes and love monster people. Most of you cowards wouldn’t even fuck anything that didn’t have a human or humanoid form anyways.

Then what IS a Final Fantasy game? It's like... Making a cyberpunk coffehouse AU Lord of The Rings movie. What is actually connecting it to the franchise? As far back as FFX, hell, FFXIII even, I could draw connections, but FFXIV? This is literally a brand new IP, leeching off an established brand that has been dead for the last 15 years. There are people on Tumblr that are younger than FInal Fantasy has been dead.

I would honestly put FFXI and FFXIV closer to what the traditional idea of a “Final Fantasy” is than FFXIII as well as just being good games.

There’s an upcoming storyline/raid that’ll start soon called “Return to Ivalice” and through some magical shenanigans involving Omega Weapon we’ll be going somewhere that’s just being called Ivalice and it’ll involve the Zodiac somehow. The actual Ivalice creator is acting as guest director/creator for this content
It really isn’t a “sort of”. FFXIV isn’t set in an alternate anything. It (originally, and may still in the future) borrows ideas and concepts from XI (e.x. All the races are based off XI ones sans Au Ra which are a FFXIV original), as well as other installments in the series (the Crystal tower is a big homage to FFIII).
Apparently, parts of 1.0s story were very similar to FF7 too.
