Wait, Square is actually threatening to remove making songs like two weeks after they implemented it just because they think they'll get sued over someone making a youtube video showing off their copyrighted song cover?
They system isn’t out yet but during the Live Letter they stated that if too many people make non-Final Fantasy XIV copyrighted song covers (and post them online ofcourse) that they’ll remove the system.

Well, the point in this case was that Mabinogi didn’t completely remove (or threaten to remove) the whole system just because people were making covers of copyrighted songs. Them removing the music from the board is fine (because they could get sued for that). It’s the whole “We’ll get rid of this whole system we spent time developing if you do covers of copyrighted songs” is overkill especially because they wouldn’t be in any form of legal trouble.
You can’t sue a company just because a product they made was used in the process of copyright infringement or else Crypton would have been sued into non-existence over the amount of songs just Miku’s been used for.
